A shift in the beer garden

Dave's Sunday shift was in the beer garden where he had a great view of the stage. Bands on Sunday were The Consonance, Maria in the Shower, Phil Dwyer Trio, Jim Byrnes Band, The Night Crawlers, and Mark Hummel and The Blues Survivors. Aside from the great music he also had the balloon man keeping him amused.

A David Gogo fan pounces

Dave was on shift at HQ after buying a David Gogo cd when Dave saw David loading his guitar in the van. Dave leaped into 'fan-mode", ran out the door and got the cd signed for the grandson.

Saturday at the Fest

Saturday we each worked 6 volunteer hours. I love volunteering here! The line-up was Sinistrio, Gabriel Palatchi, David Gogo, Toby Beard Band, Paul Peress Band and Mr Something Something. We were able to catch David Gogo and Mr Something Something. David Gogo left the stage and wandered through the crowd looking for a tall cool one.

Enjoying the show on Friday

The Friday night line-up was The Crackling, Dan Mangan and Delhi 2 Dublin. We put in our volunteer shift and then watched the show.

We were the official grand-dog walkers.

Camping on Kootenay Lake

We camped on the lake and had a view of the Jazz Fest site. Our only neighbours were ducks.

Kayaking Kootenay Lake

The lake was smooth creating a gorgeous 2 hours on the lake. Lake kayaking is different than ocean kayaking. A month ago, kayaking at Pender Island, we saw seals. On Kootenay Lake we saw a car wreck. Different views but much easier paddling.

Grand Forks

On to Midway

We passed through Osoyoos, Canada's only pocket desert, at the southern end of the Okanagan Valley. The lake is considered Canada's warmest. The destination that day was Midway, BC. Located in the heart of the Kettle Valley on the Kettle River this semi-arid region really appeals to us. We stayed at the Riverfront Park Campground last year and reserved our spot early for this year's stay. Our campsite was on the water's edge and the view from the kitchen window was the Kettle River. The next morning I ran the gorgeous 5km trail along the river. Next stay I plan a run along the TransCanada Trail.
