Venezuela here we come!

I am leaving in two days for Venezuela! Two days on Margarita Island, 3 days in the Orinoco Delta fishing for ferocious piranhas, and then 3 days at Angel Falls. Can't wait.

Visit to Dave's jobsite

Dave is a project manager and is working close to home for the first time in a very long time, so we were able to visit the site of the sawmill under construction. Basie loved the big trucks and all of the equipment! He wouldn't go down for his nap until he had his toy excavator to hug.

Playpark

I still have a few days of holidays left and so am using the time with my grandson. We went to the indoor playpark and today we are going swimming.

New Year's Day walk

What a great way to start the year! My daughter, sister, niece, great-niece, and 2 dogs joined me for a walk around the Heron Reserve.

13 eggs

A big thanks to my chickens for all of the eggs they have given us in 2012 and for the 13 eggs we gathered on 1 January 2013. Well done!

Looking forward to 2013

This year is going to be good!! To start, the year contains my lucky number and it is the year I turn 60. I don't worry about the number of years I have been here, only the quality of life. This is the year Dave and I will fly to Ecuador business class (thank you Aeroplan points!). I have already booked our 10 day land-based time in the Galapagos and am looking at how we will spend our time in the jungle. We are leaving on June 19 and returning July 20, but in the mean time, I won a ticket with Air Canada to Venezuela. Still sorting the booking code out with them and hope to travel for a week in March.

Swimming together

I've been taking my grandson, Basie, swimming whenever we are together. He can only last about 30 minutes, but I figure any time in the water is good for his confidence and we can practise what he learned during the summer when we took lessons for two weeks.
