Rainy days in Kaslo brings us a rainbow.
Visiting offspring 1 in Kaslo, who lives across the street from the SS Moyie.

Rest day today.

104/365 Thurs Aug 26

The walk today, at Kokanee Creek campground outside of Nelson, was to the Kokanee spawning stream in the campground.

103/365 Wed Aug 25

Arnie, Dave and I walked to the trestle and crossed over to continue walking on the other side.
I didn't know that we would find mines!
This is one of many mine shafts we came across.
Our 3 visitors and 2 additional dogs went on a walk with us.

Travel day. Coming into Grand Forks a mama bear and 2 babies crossed the road in front of us.

102/365 Tues Aug 24

We made a short day trip into Rock Creek.
We bought 1/2 lb of freshly ground Fair Trade coffee here. Need good coffee when you're camping. In the store next door we bought some super Country Pepper.
Not many shops in town, but lots to see.
Got back to the campsite in time for a walk. In the background is one of the Kettle Valley Railway trestles.

Deer were here before us.

101/365 Mon Aug 23

Our home for 3 nights was the Kettle River Provincial campground just out of Rock Creek.
Arnie settled in quite well.

The Kettle River would have been great for tubing if the weather had been warmer.

100/365 Sun Aug 22

We're on our way! The first stop is for gas in Hope, home of chainsaw carvings.
This is Arnie's first long trip and we stopped often for him. This stop is at Sumalo Grove just inside Manning Park.

Hedley, BC home of the Mascot Mine. This old gold mine is open for tours. Just 500 steps to see 80 year old buildings.

Next stop was Keremeos. The main industry is fruit growing and this is a great place to buy fruit.

A bit smokey around Keremeos with a few small forest fires on the mountainside.

They closed access to the dyke! This is where we walk, swim, and gather bottles. Now we have to sneak over after supper and our morning routine is totally ruined for about 6 months. The upgrade better be worth it.

We have old pavement that has lots of cracks where weeds love to live. I kill the weeds without chemicals by using vinegar and sunshine.

It's not systemic (doesn't go to roots) but after I brush them off I have cleaner cracks for awhile.

Camping is fun, but it was super hot so a hike to the falls helped cool things down.

92/365 Sat Aug 14

We took the trailer out for the first time. We went to Bridal Falls and hiked to the falls from our campsite.

91/365 Fri Aug 13

Friday the 13th is nothing to be afraid of.

The Abbotsford Airshow is this

My star gazer lilly has bloomed.

88/365 Tues Aug 10

A horse is nice when it lives across the street and someone else takes care of it.

87/365 Mon Aug 9

Drying basil.

Fishing and osprey on the Vedder Canal. The osprey do not like it when someone is in the river under their nest. They can be quite vocal about it.

We are having our first rain in a month. Put away the soaker hoses, mother nature is doing the work today. Hard to see the falling rain but you can see the pool of water on the table and the wet deck.
