Just picked up my new birds. I ordered them in April and here they are. Poor girls are so scared. Little do they know that they their new home is chicken heaven. They have never been outside or enjoyed the sunshine. Be brave little birds. Walk out that door to a wonderland!

This is the locally produced present I got after surgery. Who knew that you get presents, not me. Nice husband!

Dave drove me into Surrey today for an eye check up and all is great. I'm back to 20/20. On the way home the 2 lanes of freeway traffic was diverted. The freeway was closed and a BC Ambulance helicopter landed in front of us. I'll have to listen to the news tonight to find out what happened. Hoping for the best for all involved.

Kira, Kira, Kira. I know you're old and a 14 year old cat makes mistakes, but really girl, give your head a shake. This behaviour is not acceptable. Bad Kira.

It's the season of fruit and vegetable stands. We are very lucky to live in an area that grows strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, etc. I'm freezing blueberries right now to enjoy during the winter.

It is hot here. Hot, hot, hot. Arnie has such thick black fur that he suffers and so when we go for a walk to the canal he stands in the middle of the water as soon as he can get there. Hudson likes to swim.

I'm back into the world of vision (sort of). It's been one week since the yucky eye thing and I can see a bit better. I can see the new deck and the driveway expanding. I can see the weeds flattened in the front yard and soil brought in. I can't bend over or lift things for another week so the garden waits.

This is what I hope to be able to see. Right now I am blind in my right eye and can only see light and dark. Let the healing begin.

Chickens don't always want to lay their eggs where you want them to. The dogs and I found a clutch of eggs under a hedge. Probably should tell the neighbours their hens have chosen their own nesting site.
